HeyGen's pricing is simple once you know that credits are minutes. One credit is roughly one minute of generated video. Everything else — plan names, seat pricing, export resolution — follows from how many minutes a month you need.
All figures below were read off HeyGen's pricing page on 17 August 2026.
The plans at a glance
- Free — $0. 3 videos a month, 1 minute maximum each, watermarked. One custom digital twin, 30+ languages.
- Creator — $29/mo, or $24/mo billed annually. 600 credits a month, videos up to 30 minutes, no watermark, 1080p export, 175+ languages and dialects.
- Pro — $49/mo. 1,000 credits a month, 30-minute videos, 4K export.
- Business — $149/mo plus $20 per seat per month. 1,500 credits, 60-minute videos, 4K, 5+ digital twins, team collaboration.
- Enterprise — contact sales. Flexible credits, no maximum video length, 10+ digital twins.
The free plan: what the two limits really mean
The free tier has two caps and only one of them matters. Three videos a month sounds restrictive and is fine for evaluation. The one-minute maximum is the real constraint — it is shorter than almost any explainer, demo or training clip you would actually publish.
Then there is the watermark. For testing whether the avatar looks acceptable in your language, none of this matters and the free plan is the right place to start. For anything client-facing, the free plan is not a tier, it is a demo.
Use the free plan to answer one question: does the avatar clear the uncanny valley for your script, in your language? If yes, pay. If no, no plan fixes it.
What a credit buys
Budget one credit per finished minute, then add a margin for retakes — you will regenerate more than you expect while tuning pacing and pronunciation. A team publishing two 5-minute videos a week is looking at roughly 40 finished minutes a month, and Creator's 600 credits covers that with room for a lot of second takes.
The step from Creator to Pro buys 400 more credits and 4K export for $20/mo. If you are publishing to social, 1080p is fine and Creator is the better value. If the video goes on a landing page or a big screen, take Pro.
Where the price actually jumps
The interesting cliff is Pro to Business: $49/mo to $149/mo plus $20 per seat. You are not buying credits at that point — 1,000 to 1,500 is a modest bump — you are buying team collaboration, more digital twins and 60-minute videos.
That means a two-person team costs $189/mo on Business. If both people do not need to be in the tool simultaneously, one Pro seat and a shared login is $49 — worth being honest with yourself about before committing.
Annual billing, and when it is worth it
Creator drops from $29/mo to $24/mo billed annually, about 17% off. That is a reasonable discount, but avatar video is a use case people abandon: the novelty of a synthetic presenter wears off faster than a subscription year. Run a month of Creator monthly before locking in twelve.
How it compares
HeyGen's nearest comparison is Synthesia, which is priced for corporate training and enterprise procurement. HeyGen tends to suit individual creators and small teams; Synthesia tends to suit L&D departments. We will put the two head to head separately.
HeyGen's free plan is fairly typical of AI tools generally: real, but bounded tightly enough that it functions as a trial rather than a tier. Very few tools in this space have a free plan you could actually run on, and HeyGen is not trying to be one of them.
